Pubinno is a San Francisco-based technology company building the world's most advanced connected draft beer system. Their Taptronics smart taps combine AI, IoT, and robotics to serve the perfect beer at optimum pressure and temperature, eliminate waste, and give bar owners real-time visibility into every pour. The platform operates across bars, stadiums, and large venues in the US, UK, Netherlands, Germany, Turkey, and beyond.
The Problem
Pubinno's hardware was ahead of the industry. The software side was not keeping up.
The existing mobile app was underperforming on engagement and reliability. Bar owners, bartenders, and field technicians each had different workflows and different data needs, but they were all being served by a single, generic app that did none of these jobs well. Retention was low. The operations data the platform generated was not reaching the people who needed it.
Pubinno needed three separate apps, each purpose-built for a specific user, and a Bluetooth integration that could control hardware in the field.
What We Built
We built three React Native apps for Pubinno over three years.
The first is the bar owner app. Bar managers and pub landlords use it to track pours, monitor keg levels, review sales data, and get real-time visibility into their operations. The app surfaces the platform's AI-powered insights in a format that a non-technical user can act on immediately: keg yield, waste percentage, pour counts by shift, revenue trends.
The second is the bartender app. Bartenders use it at the tap level. It shows live pour data, alerts when a keg is running low, and lets staff lock or unlock taps directly from their phone. Speed of interaction was the design constraint here. A bartender mid-service needs information in seconds, not minutes.
The third is the field technician app, built for Pubinno's Smart Clean system. When a beer line needs cleaning, a technician connects to the smart tap hardware over Bluetooth, then follows a guided step-by-step process through the app: initiate the clean cycle, add detergent at the right stage, confirm each phase as it completes, and sign off when the line is clear. The Bluetooth integration communicates directly with the tap hardware, triggering and monitoring each stage of the cleaning process without any manual intervention at the device level.
All three apps share a common design system and component library built in TypeScript. The architecture was structured so Pubinno's team could maintain and extend each app independently.
The Outcome
Within a year of the rebuilt apps going live, Monthly Active Users grew by 230%.
The three-app model meant each user type got exactly the interface their workflow required. Bar owners had their operations dashboard. Bartenders had their tap-level controls. Field technicians had their guided cleaning workflow with hardware integration.
Pubinno's platform now serves bars, stadiums, and large venues across multiple countries, processing hundreds of thousands of pours monthly.
